Debi Roberts presents
"Mindsets: How TOC
Extends Dwek’s Original Work"
About the webinar:
do we really mean by win-win thinking and what obstacles prevent us as
individuals, team members and business communities from truly
deploying, engaging and benefiting from win-win thinking?
building on Dwek’s assertion that individuals can have fixed or growth
mindsets, this webinar will explore how TOC exposes two more mindsets;
‘win-win’ and ‘scarcity’. Focusing on the ‘scarcity’ mindset, delegates
will develop a deeper understanding of its negative impact on the
working relationships of staff as well as the culture of success and
learning. Finally, this webinar will consider how TOC provides a
scaffold for developing and supporting the mindsets we want and need to
develop, for ourselves and our communities.
Whether your greater
need is to improve communication and cooperation between staff or
enhance employees or students’ attitude and aptitude, this thought
provoking exploration into mindsets is likely to be of great
About the presenter:
Having set up and run a
small enrichment school, Roberts' work came to the attention of the
statutory agencies. In 2007 she started working with the police, and
Fire Service creating TOC programmes for both to use with disaffected
youths and their families in relation to self- esteem and alcohol
misuse. Wanting to critically explore the impact of TOC, Roberts went
back to school. She now has a Maters in Education, receiving a
distinction for her year's research into the impact TOC has on the
emotional literacy of 10 years olds in main stream school. Her research
programme was based on her original TOC programme (used in the
enrichment school), that combined TOC with story, to develop student’s
conflict resolution skills and enhance behaviour management. This
programme and her MA research form the basis for Robert’s first book,
Storytelling for Better Behaviour.
Roberts earlier research has led her to investigate group intelligence and how TOC can support improved group intelligence.
