The TOCICO Fundamentals Exam covers the fundamental TOC concepts that are common to all the TOC Proven Solutions. Learning the breadth of the TOC Fundamentals can be a daunting task. Sometimes it's better to learn a bit of TOC and then take an exam on just that small part. Then learn more and test again and learn more, and so on. And sometimes learning all the fundamentals may be more than you really need.

If you are a worker in a plant using Drum-Buffer-Rope, you need to know how to react to instructions or changes in the plant. The TOCICO Basics exam for Drum Buffer Rope covers just those topics.

If you are working in a project environment and management wants to use Critical Chain, then the TOCICO Basics Exam for Critical Chain Project Management makes sure you understand enough about CCPM to respond correctly.

Its the same with the other Basics Exams (Thinking Processes, Finance & Measures, TOC Replenishment, and TOC Philosophy).

You may find these exams very helpful in evaluating your own knowledge in these areas. The exams can be taken anytime over the Internet without a proctor. They are inexpensive and private. They can be very helpful in supporting your efforts to focus your study on to the things you don't quite understand.

Basics exams are now available to take online for Thinking Process, DBR, CCPM, Finance & Measures, TOC Replenishment and TOC Philosophy.  These basics exams can be taken in preparation and study for the TOC Fundamentals exam.  The basics exam do not result in a certification, but you will receive a certificate of achievement, by email, for each basics exam you pass.  You can then print out your certificate and hang it on your wall proudly!

Each Basics Exam is $37.00.  More instructions can be found when purchasing to take a basics exam.  You can pay to take a basics exam by clicking on any of the following links:

Online Basics Drum Buffer Rope exam
Online Basics Thinking Processes exam
Online Basics Critical Chain Project Management exam
Online Basics Finance & Measures exam
Online Basics TOC Replenishment exam
Online Basics TOC Philosophy exam

PLEASE NOTE:  TOCICO is now requiring that you must be logged in to a member account before taking a basics exam.  If you are not already currently a Standard, Academic, or Lifetime member but wish to take a basics exam you will need to register as a free Guest Member

Also, if you are already a TOCICO member (Standard, Academic or Lifetime), please do not register as a Guest member just to take a basics exam.  All guest memberships must be approved, and any current member who registers as a Guest member will not be approved!  This will cause an unnecessary delay.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact TOC at admin@tocico.org.

Good Luck!

Hi, One other point that I am not clear on - if the Fundamentals exam is all multiple choice as is mentioned in this discussion thread,, why does the fundamentals exam outline found on the TOCICO website include references to 'discuss' , 'describe', 'create' and 'explain' (http://www.tocico.org/?page=fundamentals). thanks Gordon

Hi . Can you please reconcile a difference that I note between the description in the fundamentals exam outline and the explanation provided above in respect to the basic exam. The fundamentals exam outline only refers to (1) internal supply chain management and logistics, (2) finance and measurement, and (3) single critical chain project management.. Whereas the online basics exams (as preparation for the Fundamentals exam) specifically in relation to applications refer to Replenishment, DBR, and CCPM. Of course you could argue that these three applications are incorporated into the supply chain management and logistics, but if this is true, why are different terms used to describe the same intention? Can you please clarify? thanks Gordon

Hi Hemant, Yes, the basic exams and the Fundamentals exam are fully multiple choice. I have sent you an email regarding your other question. Thank you, Jessica

Please let me know the format of the basic and fundamental exams, are the questions 'Multiple Choice Questions' ? Also is there any smaller list (prioritised) of books for fundamental exam, the reference list in the website has huge number of books. Thanks

At the current time there is not a practice exam available. This is something that is in the plan for the future.

Dear Carol: What options do I have to validate my knowledge of TOC aspects before I take the Basic or Fundamental exams ? I mean It seems silly to pay 37$ per subject just to know "how good are you",,, Are there "rehearse / practice " exams one can take before jumping on the real thing ? You may email me at eyal@dr-tagari.co.il Thanks, Eyal

I assume that one can take the Basics exam more than once if the first time is not successful?

Many people do use the basics exam to prepare for the fundamentals exam to evaluate how ready they are in that section.

Are the Basics TOC Replenishment exam questions of sufficient difficulty to prepare for that section of the Fundamentals exam? Thanks TM

Sorry but that isn't possible since it would mean that those questions could not ever be used again. We are trying to keep the cost of the basics exams reasonable which means we need to be able to reuse questions randomly at different times.

This would be an excellent preparation for the Fundamentals exam. It gives you the same style of question and covers the material albeit at a more basic level. If you do not pass the basics for that section, it would indicate that you most likely would not pass that section of the fundamentals.

Would Basics exams be useful in preparation for the Fundamental Exam? Thank you.
